Overview
As a Systems Engineering Intern, you will support Brightstar Lottery’s Technology team by assisting with the setup, configuration, and support of infrastructure systems that power our products and services. This internship offers hands-on exposure to enterprise systems engineering in a real-world, production environment.
Through mentorship and guided project work, the intern will collaborate with experienced engineers and gain practical experience across operating systems, virtualization, cloud platforms, and automation tools while developing foundational technical and professional skills.
Responsibilities
- Assist with the setup, configuration, and support of infrastructure systems under the guidance of senior engineers
- Participate in system deployment, testing, and troubleshooting activities for development and non-production environments
- Support operating systems such as Linux and Windows Server through supervised tasks
- Contribute to basic automation and configuration management efforts using scripting or infrastructure tools
- Help document system configurations, procedures, and technical workflows
- Observe and participate in team meetings to learn DevOps practices and cross-functional collaboration
- Assist with research and evaluation of tools, technologies, or system enhancements
Qualifications
- Currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s degree program in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field
- Foundational understanding of operating systems concepts (Linux or Windows)
- Basic knowledge of networking, virtualization, or cloud technologies
- Familiarity with scripting or programming fundamentals (such as Bash, Python, or similar)
- Strong curiosity, problem-solving mindset, and willingness to learn
- Ability to collaborate effectively in a team environment
Preferred Qualifications
- Coursework or academic projects related to systems administration, cloud computing, or DevOps
- Exposure to virtualization platforms, containers, or configuration management tools
- Experience using Linux command-line tools
- Interest in infrastructure automation, cloud platforms, or enterprise systems engineering

At Brightstar, we consider a wide range of factors in determining compensation, including background, skills, experience, and work location. These factors can cause your compensation to vary. The estimated starting compensation range for this role is $24.50 per hour. The actual pay offered may be higher or lower. The Company complies with all local pay requirements and collective bargaining agreements, where applicable.
Base pay is one part of our Total Rewards program. Non-exempt roles are eligible for irregular discretionary bonuses.
