Position Summary

We are looking for a quality SQL Server DBA that is a great communicator with a customer focus - and of course a fun individual to join the team.  The culture of Brightstar Lottery and the experiences from our end users is based on the quality of the resources that are on board. The SQL DBA role provides support for all aspects of the SLQ DB environment. This position requires heavy interaction with customers within the IT environment. Candidate must have excellent customer service and communication skills. Candidate must have a strong technical working knowledge of business DB environments with the ability to troubleshoot client/server applications. This individual must be able to troubleshoot and learn new environments with minimal supervision.

Responsibilities

 

  • Complete understanding of the SQL DB’s as well as the Systems and Storage Infrastructure
  • Support the monitoring maintenance and updating of databases and related applications that support the company’s business processes.
  • Support the development of database and related automation tools.
  • Support the development of queries and reporting systems for databases.
  • May support the design, development and implementation of new databases.
  • Support the administration and maintenance of the company’s SQL Server databases.
  • Support tuning, troubleshooting, upgrading, recovering and supporting databases and database related application tools.
  • Support analyzing performance of SQL Server based applications; supports tuning databases for maximum performance by creating and maintaining indexes and optimizing SQL code.
  • Support ensuring the accuracy and completeness of data in master database files and various support tools such as database dictionaries.
  • Maintain security controls for databases and support the backup and recovery of databases and business continuity planning for some production databases.
  • Support technical maintenance for routine databases, database upgrades and new database versions and modules, including troubleshooting, debugging, and updating as well as support the planning for database storage, including such as table space planning, planning for the expansions of current and new applications, establishing table sizes and indexes for new applications.
  • Independently Support the Enterprise IT Environment
  • Integrate into the on-call rotation
  • Adherence to Local and Global Support Structure and Protocols

Qualifications

 

  • Bachelor’s degree required or equivalent experience.
  • A minimum of 5 to 7 years of experience in database administration.
  • The ability to have or acquire one technical certification or equivalent.
  • Must have basic knowledge of some business processes that affect/ are affected by IGT’s SQL databases.
  • Must have basic knowledge and understand the context in which solutions are being developed and able to apply current technologies to the resolution of some business solutions.
  • Must be knowledgeable of and have skills with client business process and requirements, database design and diagramming incorporating referential integrity and normalization concepts. Must have knowledge with SQL Server and programming, server RDBMS, stored procedures and storage methods, cross technical knowledge of operating systems and RDMS, authorizations at RDMS level, configuration of SQL Server RDBMS, SQL programming language, stored procedures and administration tools, SQL code tracing and debugging.
  • Will need to have basic problem-solving skills as well as the ability to handle multiple tasks.
  • May need to obtain a gaming depending on specific responsibilities.

At Brightstar, we consider a wide range of factors in determining compensation, including background, skills, experience, and work location. These factors can cause your compensation to vary. The estimated starting compensation range is $74,961 - $164,800. The actual pay offered may end up being higher or lower. The Company will comply with all local pay requirements and collective bargaining agreements, where applicable. 

 

Base pay is only one part of our Total Rewards program.  Sales roles may be eligible for commission payments, while other roles are eligible for discretionary bonuses.  In addition, we offer employees a 401(k) Savings Plan with Company contributions, health, dental, and vision insurance, life, accident, and disability insurance, tuition reimbursement, paid time off, wellness programs, and identity theft insurance.
