Responsibilities

To research, conceptualize and develop data architectures for products or solutions. To act as a specialist resource to projects, to assist with data modeling and database design and research efforts related to the use of database technologies for the project and customer analytics and insight functions. Independently applies a systematic, disciplined, quantifiable and value based approach to the design, development, operation and maintenance of data architecture and models.

  • To define, manage and maintain the Data Model for Aurora product architectures.
  • To define and help govern the master data strategy for Aurora product architectures.
  • To work with the Analytics group, and other Product groups, to ensure there is a holistic approach to data capture, organization, and analysis.
  • To help us lead the way in data science, defining architectures that help us create the best recommendation engines based on the data we collect.
  • Author and sometimes peer-review Architecture Strategy Roadmaps (ASR), Product Architecture Documents, and Solution Designs for Products.
  • Author and sometimes peer-review Solution Technology Roadmaps for Customers.
  • Participate in select Customer RFP, Sales and Project work as needed to further our position in the Data Architecture and Analytics space.
  • Guide Development Teams in implementing architectural designs.
  • Create and maintain the ASR and Technology Roadmap for Analytics solutions together with the Analytics product group.
  • Support product management for assessing market needs and impact to the products
  • Support delivery for existing commitments and deliverables for assigned components
  • Demonstrates knowledge of data analysis and data modeling techniques and ability to use one of the industry leading database modeling/database design tools
  • Demonstrates in-depth knowledge of various database technologies
  • Maintains data models and data dictionaries in repository for all Products
  • Defines and maintains data naming standards and conventions
  • Researches, defines, presents and recommends database designs and/or alternative strategies
  • Assists team in determining customer data requirements and assists development team in providing database solutions
  • Analyzes data requirements, application and processing architectures, data dictionaries and database schema(s), and then amends, optimizes, and certifies database schema design to meet system(s) requirements
  • Serves as the resident expert in efficient data retrieval and manipulation, interface techniques, DBMS APIs, and DBMS Development Tools. Constructs queries, DML, data transformation and extractions by understanding and investigating existing database structures and data models within the enterprise. system(s) requirements
  • Designs and develops automated solutions using established analysis and design methodologies
  • Develops in-depth understanding of IGT products and applications at the business, application and technology level
  • Performs critical design reviews of logical and physical data models

Qualifications

Minimum Education:

  • Bachelor of Science Degree or equivalent.

Years of Experience:

  • 10 or more years of related experience.

Other

  • 3 or more years focusing on Data Architecture or Analytics based design and delivery
  • Desire to define and shape a Data Architecture practice within an established firm, ensuring the company is ready for the Analytics/Big Data era
  • Someone who can build strong relationships and influence others to adopt best practices, giving compelling reasoning and benefits of doing so
