This position is for a Back‑end Software Engineer specializing in Java who will be responsible for the design, development, and maintenance of secure, scalable, and high‑performance backend systems for lottery solutions. The role involves building and maintaining microservices and RESTful APIs using the Spring ecosystem, working with relational databases such as DB2 or PostgreSQL, and collaborating within an agile, international team. The ideal candidate will bring strong Java expertise, solid database and SQL knowledge, and a passion for delivering robust, enterprise‑grade software through innovation and teamwork.

Qualifications:

  • Master/Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent industry experience
  • 5+ years of professional back-end development experience, focusing on scalable, high-performance applications.

Required skills:

  • English communication skills enabling effective project collaboration in a distributed and international team
  • Git / GitHub for source control management and code collaboration
  • Java, Spring Framework, Spring Boot
  • Designing and implementing RESTful APIs
  • Knowledge of relational database systems (preferred DB2 or PostgreSQL) and data structures, SQL, Hibernate
  • Solid understanding of design patterns, microservices, and scalable system design
  • Strong debugging, troubleshooting, and performance tuning skills for back-end systems
  • Experience with unit testing, integration testing, and performance optimization
  • Knowledge of test framework (JUnit, Mockito, Gatling or TestNJ)
  • Knowledge of secure coding practices for back-end applications, OWASP

Value-added skills:

  • Knowledge of cloud platforms, containerization technologies, and orchestration tools
  • DevOps practices and continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD), Jenkins
  • Python, Unix shell scripting skills
  • Proficiency in project tracking tools (e.g., JIRA)

 

Nice to have:

  • Methodologies for data encryption, authentication, and access control mechanisms
  • Logging and monitoring tools like Kibana, Grafana, and Prometheus
  • Angular 2+

Key Responsabilities:

  • Develop software ensuring security, scalability, and high performance
  • Document software, document processes and procedures related to the implementation and maintenance of software solutions
  • Participate in meetings and group design discussions
  • Addresses customers' concerns promptly by troubleshooting issues or advancing to the relevant manager
  • Collaborate with other parts of the organization, analyze customer requirements and develop the best strategy to meet those requirements
  • Provide training, mentoring, and coaching to assigned coworkers
  • Participate in the project management of back-end software solutions
  • Engage in individual professional development by completing an individual development plan, participating in mentoring activities, and communicating career path goals

This information reflects Brightstar Lottery’s good-faith estimate of compensation for this position at the time of publication. Actual compensation will be determined in accordance with the applicable collective agreement and internal compensation policies. Factors that we consider include, but are not limited to, role, career level, performance, skills, level of expertise, experience, location, market competitiveness, and internal equity. The estimated starting compensation range is 178,323 zł – 274,343 zł. The Company will comply with all local pay requirements and collective bargaining agreements, where applicable.

 

In addition to base salary, employees may be eligible for an annual performance-based bonus with a set target (10% of salary) aligned with individual and company performance. Eligibility and payout may be prorated based on date of hire and service during the performance period or sales commission.

This position is governed by collective bargaining agreement, which regulates the main terms and conditions of employment, including minimum salary levels, classification, working hours, leave, and other employment rights.
