Overview
Our team is growing and Brightstar is seeking a talented DevOps engineer to join our team to build world class Lottery products. As part of our integration team, you will lead a dedicated team responsible for automating the delivery process of our latest product offerings. You will also oversee deployment activities, resolve issues and maintain the overall health of customer environments. Responsibilities
- Lead and mentor a team of DevOps professionals focused on customer maintenance and support
- Foster a collaborative and innovative team culture
- Strive for continuous improvement in efficiency and governance of workflows
- Design and develop tooling that will drive the efficiencies in workflows
- Work closely with requirements engineers to estimate quality products
- Promote high quality and timely completion of projects
- Oversee the deployment activities related to customer-released sites
- Monitor and ensure the quality of deployments, addressing issues promptly Implement measures to enhance the quality of deployments and reduce human errors
- Work with onsite and remote teams
- Develop and implement strategies to ensure continuous learning and skill development within the team
- Provide technical solutions to complex problems and write technical documents
- Deliver top quality feature rich software on time on budget
- Responsible for support 24/7 support of solutions in specialized or disaster situations
Qualifications
- 5+ years of software development experience or related scripting
- 5+ years of experience working with software development pipelines
- Computer Science Bachelor's degree, College degree or equivalent experience
Required Skills
- Strong experience supporting Next.js / modern front-end applications in production environments
- Hands-on experience with containerisation (Docker) and deploying applications to Azure Container Apps / Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS)
- Proficiency in scripting languages such as Bash and Python for automation and operational tasks
- Experience with build and packaging tools relevant to front-end ecosystems (npm, yarn, pnpm, webpack, etc.)
- Solid experience with CI/CD pipelines, preferably using Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions, or Jenkins
- Strong understanding of CI/CD concepts, including automated testing, build optimisation, and environment promotion
- Extensive experience with Git-based version control workflows Familiarity with production deployments, monitoring, logging, and troubleshooting in cloud environments
- Understanding of security best practices for containerised and web applications Ability to pass a security investigation Strong communication skills and professional-level English
Preferred Skills
- Advanced Linux system administration experience
- Strong Microsoft Azure cloud knowledge Experience with GitHub SCM, GitHub Actions, and GitHub Packages
- Experience designing and operating Docker/Kubernetes-based infrastructure and microservices architectures
- Experience with configuration and provisioning tools such as Ansible or Puppet
- Hands-on experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools, including Terraform, Pulumi, or Azure ARM templates Experience with Azure Load Testing
