The Data Center Operations Manager plays a critical role in that mission by ensuring the reliability, security, and performance of the data center environment that supports lottery operations every day. This role bridges strategy and execution, translating operational vision into consistent, high quality outcomes while supporting Brightstar’s purpose of Elevating Lotteries, Inspiring Dreams.
YOUR ROLE IN THE BRIGHTSTAR UNIVERSE
Operational Leadership
· Manages day to day data center operations to ensure continuous system uptime, stability, and operational efficiency across all shifts.
· Oversees control room activities, production schedules, and operational readiness for software and hardware changes.
· Ensures systems, tools, and processes operate in a consistent, compliant, and trouble free manner.
· Serves as the primary operational escalation point for system incidents, coordinating with internal teams, lottery stakeholders, and vendors.
People Management and Development
· Leads, coaches, and develops supervisors, leads, and operational staff to ensure high performance and accountability.
· Oversees staffing models, shift coverage, scheduling, and on call rotations to support a 24/7 environment.
· Conducts performance management activities including goal setting, feedback, development planning, and succession planning.
· Promotes a culture of safety, quality, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
Systems, Process, and Quality Management
· Oversees monitoring of systems performance, data integrity, security controls, and quality assurance standards.
· Develops, documents, and improves operational procedures and control mechanisms to reduce risk and operational errors.
· Ensures compliance with internal policies, regulatory requirements, security standards, and audit controls.
· Reviews operational metrics and incident trends to identify root causes and drive corrective actions.
Planning, Capacity, and Vendor Management
· Leads capacity planning efforts and assesses future systems, infrastructure, and operational needs.
· Manages vendor relationships, service performance, and issue resolution related to data center operations.
· Partners with technology, engineering, QA, and business teams to support testing, deployments, and production changes.
· Provides recommendations and business cases for system enhancements, tools, and operational investments.
Stakeholder and Customer Interface
· Acts as a key liaison with lottery customers, internal business partners, and external vendors.
· Communicates operational status, risks, and improvements clearly to leadership and stakeholders.
· Supports audits, reviews, and customer inquiries related to data center operations.
Responsibilities
YOUR STAR QUALITIES
Required
· Bachelor’s degree in a technology, engineering, or related field, or equivalent experience.
· Progressive experience in data center, operations, or technology environments with increasing leadership responsibility.
· Demonstrated experience leading teams in a 24/7 operational setting.
· Strong people leadership skills with the ability to coach, influence, and develop others.
· Excellent communication, presentation, and stakeholder management skills.
· Analytical and critical thinking skills with a strong focus on problem solving and operational excellence.
· Working knowledge of production systems, operational controls, incident management, and compliance driven environments.
· Ability to operate effectively in fast paced, high availability environments.
Preferred
· Experience supporting lottery operations or similarly regulated, high availability environments.
· Technical familiarity with operating systems, monitoring tools, and basic diagnostic utilities.
· Experience managing vendors, audits, and compliance requirements.
· Relevant technical or operational certifications.
Qualifications
- BA or BS in a quantitative discipline such as Mathematics, Statistics, Finance, Economics, Engineering or Computer Science preferred.
- Work Experience ideally in consulting, investment banking, corporate strategy, business analytics or market research with demonstrable results and career progression.
- Some direct personnel management preferred. Excel and PowerPoint expertise is a must.
- Tableau experience a plus.
- Strong abilities in statistical and data analysis.
- Excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills.
- Strong organizational skills, with ability to prioritize work and manage multiple deadlines.
- Must maintain a high sense of ownership, be self-motivated with initiative, and be able to effectively direct a team from project start to project completion

At Brightstar, we consider a wide range of factors in determining compensation, including background, skills, experience, and work location. These factors can cause your compensation to vary. The estimated starting compensation range is $74,961 - $164,800. The actual pay offered may end up being higher or lower. The Company will comply with all local pay requirements and collective bargaining agreements, where applicable.
Base pay is only one part of our Total Rewards program. Sales roles may be eligible for commission payments, while other roles are eligible for discretionary bonuses. In addition, we offer employees a 401(k) Savings Plan with Company contributions, health, dental, and vision insurance, life, accident, and disability insurance, tuition reimbursement, paid time off, wellness programs, and identity theft insurance.
