Overview

As a Systems Engineer, you will support Brightstar Lottery's technology infrastructure by configuring, deploying, supporting, and optimizing operating systems, hardware, software, and enterprise solutions. This role partners with product development and operational teams to deliver reliable technology services, troubleshoot complex issues, implement new technologies, and support DevOps practices across on-premises and cloud environments. This role will be located on-site within Lakeland, Florida,

 

What You'll Do

  • Represent System Support Engineering in delivery and product team meetings.
  • Configure and deploy hardware, software, and infrastructure solutions.
  • Support and troubleshoot Linux, Windows Server, container, virtualization, and database environments.
  • Implement and maintain cloud-based solutions across AWS, Azure, and Google Cloud platforms.
  • Develop and utilize automation tools, scripts, and Ansible playbooks to streamline system administration.
  • Monitor, tune, and optimize operating system and hardware performance.
  • Participate in an on-call rotation providing third-level mission-critical support.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

 

What You'll Bring

  • Bachelor of Science degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 1–2 years of practical system administration experience.
  • Advanced knowledge of Red Hat Linux and Windows system administration.
  • Proficiency with command-line programming and system troubleshooting.
  • Familiarity with internet-facing web servers and application server solutions.
  • Understanding of virtualization technologies such as VMware and KVM.
  • Experience integrating LAN/WAN and data communication environments.
  • Knowledge of security, auditing procedures, and compliance requirements.
  • Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English is required

 

What Will Make You Stand Out

  • Exposure to OpenShift, container technologies, and DevOps practices.
  • Experience supporting IBM DB2, PostgreSQL, OpenLDAP, or Red Hat IDM environments.
  • Knowledge of configuration management tools such as Puppet or Ansible.
  • Hands-on experience with Red Hat Satellite 6.x or 7.x administration.
  • Ability to author scripts using Bash, Python, Java, Ruby, or KSH.
  • Familiarity with SAN storage technologies, including NetApp and Lenovo DM Storage.
  • Demonstrated ability to evaluate, benchmark, test, and implement emerging technologies.
  • Willingness and ability to travel up to 10–15%.

At Brightstar, we consider a wide range of factors in determining compensation, including background, skills, experience, and work location. These factors can cause your compensation to vary. The estimated starting compensation range for this role is $40,887 - $115,000. The actual pay offered may be higher or lower. The Company complies with all local pay requirements and collective bargaining agreements, where applicable.

 

Base pay is one part of our Total Rewards program. Non-exempt roles are eligible for irregular discretionary bonuses. In addition, we offer employees a 401(k) Savings Plan with Company contributions, health, dental, and vision insurance, life, accident, and disability insurance, tuition reimbursement, paid time off, wellness programs, and identity theft insurance. Note: programs are subject to eligibility requirements.
