Responsibilities
- Support the design, build, planning, optimization, and implementation of DB2 LUW databases, including operations, maintenance, stability, security, access management, and documentation.
- Manage data dictionaries, database structures, layout, installation, upgrades, and overall administration of DB2 environments.
- Provide technical assistance in identifying, evaluating, and developing systems and procedures related to Production, CAT/APL, QA, and Development databases.
- Maintain and update database documentation (libraries, best practices, performance and capacity metrics).
- Contribute to the development of maintenance strategies and scripts for database backup and recovery.
- Ensure adherence to service level agreements by following defined SLA performance standards.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related technical field, or equivalent experience.
- 2 to 4 years of DBA experience with DB2 LUW v11.x on Linux (required).
- Availability to support 24/7/365 operations, including weekends and holidays as needed.
- DB2 Database Administrator certifications (plus).
Required Tech Skills
- database updates, modifications, reconfigurations, backups, and restores;
- developing, modifying, testing, and maintaining scripts (Shell Script, Perl, Python);
- disaster recovery and backup procedures.
- TSA, HADR, and Pacemaker (single and multi-standby configurations);
- DB2 analysis tools (DB2 Visual Studio, DB2PD, DB2TOP, DB2 Explain);
- incident detection, analysis, troubleshooting, and escalation;
- capacity planning processes;
- Windows and Linux configurations.
Required Soft Skills
- Strong time management and organizational abilities.
- Independent decision-making capability.
- Customer-service mindset and strong internal stakeholder orientation.
- Ability to work effectively in complex, fast-paced technical environments.
Nice to Haves
- Experience in migrating databases from DB2 LUW to PostgreSQL.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Azure.Additional PostgreSQL DBA experience (1–2 years).
